ADULT ROWING
The LCRA has several ways for adults to learn and become involved in rowing. We have different programs for both introductory students who are in the first, or novice year, and we also have a competitive experienced team that focuses on high end boat speed and racing.

u Fall "Learn to Row"
Please CLICK HERE to send an email requesting dates and times of our next summer Learn to Row day. These classes fill up fast. Each of these FREE session is roughly 2.5 hours and you will learn the basics on land, and then go out in a boat with other experienced oarsman for a fun "Gettin' The Basics" row. These are a wonderful opportunity to give rowing a try, make some friends, and get out in a boat. We offer both Junior and Adult classes, so please be sure to sign up for the correct one. Dates/times for these events are announced through our GOROW! eNewsletter, so be sure to sign up for that (and confirm your subscription by clicking on the link in the followup email sent to you).
u Private Lessons
Our instructors can take you out for a "one-on-one" lesson for personalized attention and training. Many of our rowers prefer to go out on the lake in a single (a boat for one person) and take in the scenery and tranquility of Lake Casitas. Private lessons are a fantastic way to quickly get ramped up. Lessons are $50 per hour and need to be scheduled in advance with one of our instructors. Three lessons is $125. We can give lessons for two or more people if you have friends or family who would like to join in. Please call for pricing.
u NOVICE Year-Round Team
This team starts in September and is for people in their first year of rowing. We progress at a pace appropriate to the skill level, and offer great encouragement and support in a non-competitive environment. It can be beneficial if students have taken one of the summer programs or private sculling lessons prior to entering this team. The program focuses on team-building exercises, general fitness development and learning the technique to row together as a crew. There are some local racing opportunities later on in the year if people are interested. This is a co-ed class. Space is limited so please sign up early.
u EXPERIENCED Year-Round Team
The Experienced Year Round Program is for rowers who have completed their novice year either with the LCRA or with another team. Many adults rowed previously in high school or college, and are hoping to get back into the sport to keep fit and even consider racing from time to time.
In addition, we have a dedicated group of performance athletes that take their racing and training very seriously, and this group is available for those looking for the full competitive edge in a performance based environment.
The experienced adult team practices Tuesday and Thursday mornings 6:30am to 8:30am and Sundays 7:00am to 9:00am. Some can make it to all three practices some less due to family or work schedules. .
u Summer Programs
These two or three week summer programs are a great way to see if you like the sport and get a chance to meet some fantastic people while enjoying the outdoor activity. The summer programs are three days per week in the mornings and are an exciting way to get introduced to rowing basics. Schedule for Summer 2009 will be posted most likely in mid-spring 2009.
