HIGH SCHOOL ROWING
Welcome to the Casitas Rowing High School Team!
With over 20 high schools in the surrounding areas plus the many homeschool students, our program pools from the dedicated young men and women in our community. We are excited to offer a robust and successful program where developing athletes can excel. This is a competitive program based on developing fast crews with the goal of performing at a National Championship level.
High School Practice days: Four practices after school during the week, plus Saturday morning at 8:30am.

Tryouts Sept. 4th & 11th
The High School Novice Teams are for people in their first year of rowing. We have both Fall training and racing, plus Spring training and racing. This team travels to compete both in regional and state level regattas with the Championship Regatta being held up in Sacramento in May. Teams include both rowers and coxswains. There are some opportunities for Novice athletes to race with the Varsity squads.

u 2010-2011 Varsity Boys / Varsity Girls
Varsity Begins Aug 28th
Once you have completed your novice year, athletes are moved up to the Varsity squad. This program is for experienced rowers. We have both open weight crews as well as lightweight categories. Teams include both rowers and coxswains.
COXSWAINS
Coxswains are the boat leaders, they have a rudder for steering and call out the practice routine and race strategy at regattas. A typical boat will have eight rowers and one coxswain. We look for motivated people who are outgoing and naturally talkative. Generally the coxswains weigh less than the rowers, with girls being under 115 pounds and boys being under 125 pounds.
