Lake Casitas Rowing Association Coaching Staff
Eric started rowing in 1984, same year that the Olympics came to Lake Casitas. His competitive rowing career continued for the next 16 years, winning five state championships, two national titles, and culminating in a silver medal at the world championships in Germany. Gillett offers his athletes a dynamic and challenging environment. His coaching history includes novice and varsity boys at Marin Rowing, varsity boys at Newport Aquatic Center, UC Santa Barbara Novice Men, and assistant to the Princeton Varsity Openweight and Lightweight Men’s programs. He has worked with over 4000 athletes on junior, collegiate, and masters levels.
Wendy has been coaching and developing novice athletes since 1992, and is incredible at getting athletes ramped up rowing fast in a very short amount of time. Wendy was a coxswain in college and has (as most coxswains do) more energy than all of us combined. She brings her experience in leading crews and also her teaching of over a thousand students in summer rowing programs.
Dani is a 4 year scholarship athlete from the Division I rowing program Sacramento State. The former Team Captain has coached at the high school and collegiate level. She understands girls athletics and what it takes to help rowers and coxswains find their next level of performance. Originally from California, she spent the last 3 years coaching high school girls in Philadelphia. Summer time she travels the country coaching for both Sparks Rowing Camps as well as US Junior Development camps.
Justine is one of the founding members of Casitas Rowing and rowed for three years with the junior team. Justine’s strength is in her ability to communicate technique to her students in a way that quickly develops great skill. Her classes are fun, but she is going to push you to work hard, so be ready!
