Masters Coach Wanted – Come Play on the Prettiest Lake in SoCal!
LAKE CASITAS ROWING – Ventura, CA
We’re a fun, tight-knit adult (Masters) program looking for an energetic coach to lead 3 practices a week:
Tuesday, Thursday + Sunday mornings
(ALSO JUNIOR COACHING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2026-2027 SEASONS)
Your mission (should you choose to accept it):
• Create training plans & run on-water practices
• Set lineups and get us ready to throw down at regattas
• Run great, safe, fun sessions on the water, help manage and lead the team off the water
The vibe here
Low-drama, high-fun, family-style club. We’ve got your back, you’ve got ours. Mistakes happen — we just ask that we all learn and keep getting better. Great coaches who love it here tend to stay forever (and we’d love that).
The lake is stupidly gorgeous — drinking-water reservoir, almost no powerboats, rangers who dig us, fishermen who wave. 50 or so amazing shells (mostly Resolutes & Empachers) just waiting for you.
Pay & schedule
• $18–$35/hour based on experience
• ~32 hours/month (the 3 weekly practices)
• Extra cash available with private lessons or light admin work if you want it
• We give raises freely and often to coaches who show up, are passionate, and keep growing
Real-talk money note
This is awesome supplemental income or a dream gig if you already have flexibility (remote job, retired, trust fund, cool parents within 30 min drive, etc.). Coaching alone probably won’t buy you a mansion in CA… but the lifestyle is priceless.
You’ll thrive here if you bring
• Patience and positivity with a fun mix of adults (all ages, speeds, and goals)
• Solid organization + basic tech comfort (Google Sheets, group texts, etc.)
• At least 3 years rowing + regatta experience
• Coaching experience is a bonus — we’re happy to grow you into a rockstar
• A zest for physical work, lifting, twisting, jumping, moving boats and other equipment.
• Loads of energy, and a confident spirit
• Rock-solid commitment to all 3 practices every week
Random challenges (so you’re not surprised)
• 35-day boat quarantine = we keep separate “home fleet” and “travel fleet” (hoping this changes soon)
• Lake level fluctuates — sometimes we move docks, but there’s always plenty of water (currently lake is full of water!)
• Rowers happily drive 10-30 min to get here because it’s worth it
If this sounds like your kind of fun and you’re excited to work hard and help adults fall in love with rowing (or fall deeper in love), we’d love to meet you!
